The honorary doctorate of the University of Silesia will be awarded to an eminent scholar, Professor Paul Lagarde. The ceremony of granting the highest academic dignity will take place on 13th September 2019. The request of the Council of the Faculty of Law and Administration in this matter was approved by the University Senate on 25th June 2019 (Resolution No. 396).

Professor Paul Lagarde is one of the most outstanding contemporary lawyers dealing with international private law. He is a valued author of numerous publications on this matter, which over the past few decades have been a source of inspiration for representatives of science and law around the world, including Poland. Professor Paul Lagarde has participated in numerous government delegations and expert groups that have made a significant contribution to the development of International Law Instruments that are of great importance for the development of international cooperation of European countries.

The ceremony will start at 11:00 AM at the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Silesia (Katowice, Bankowa 11b, auditory 6).
