On Tuesday, June 5, 2018, the University of Silesia has signed the cooperation agreement on student exchanges with the University of Alberta (Edmonton, Canada). The newly-signed document will expand the cooperation between the universities, which is ongoing since 1996.

The Canadian university was represented by: prof. Joseph Patrouch - Director of the Wirth Institute for Austrian and Central European Studies and prof. Waclaw M. Osadnik from the Department of Modern Languages ​​and Cultural Studies and the Wirth Institute for Austrian and Central European Studies.

On the part of the University of Silesia, the meeting was attended by: dr hab. prof. UŚ Tomasz Pietrzykowski - Vice-Rector for International and National Cooperation, prof. dr hab. Zbigniew Białas - Director of the Institute of English Cultures and Literatures, Agata Wójcik - Head of the Department of International Relations and Jarosław Gąsior - Head of the Erasmus Program Office.
